Great upgrade for an A1502/EMC 2835 2015 MacBook Pro
Swapped this drive in nice and easy, booted from a Bootable Mojave USB key, ran the disk utility to erase the drive, and was able to successfully load the operating system no problem. Great price for a huge storage boost, definitely recommended.

Works Perfectly! – UNTIL IT DOESN’T
UPDATE: Well, it was working fine until this morning (not even 2 months in!) and now my computer doesn’t recognize it at all. I woke up to a blinking folder with “?”.I’ve tried everything. I have an external case for my old SSD, so I put it in that, performed a disk repair and then boot from there and it worked one time. I reinstalled the SSD into the computer, thinking that fixed it and it failed again. Thankfully I have my old SSD so I am using that to get my computer to work until I figure this out. I can’t even get the computer to see it in the SSD encasement to pull off files I need.SO FRUSTRATED.I don’t recommend this product.Original:July 2024 My MacBook Air SSD had a corrupted sector & would no longer allow me to access System Preferences so I had to get a new SSD.IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE HARD DRIVE UPON REBBOT, you want to make sure you go into Recovery Mode by holding Command+Alt+R upon power up. This is the newer recovery mode, the Ctrl+R boot up is old and may not recognize the SSD. I wasted weeks not knowing this.Once I formatted the HD for Mac, it worked perfectly. Nice and speedy & tons of room on it!Very happy to finally have my Mac back to normal.I use my old SSD in an enclosure to get my old information out of it.

    Comes pre-installed with MacOS
To my surprise, this came pre installed with a version of MacOS. So, after installation, it booted up without me having to do anything extra. Works well.

Installation is Difficult and Require a High Level of Skill and Hours of Extra Effort
It is difficult to determine the quality of Timetec drives or if the company stands behind their products because I just recently purchased their drives. The price is among the best I found, but Timetec customer service is almost non-existent. There is no online or telephone support and these drives have serious installation issues which Timetec acknowledges, but provides minimal assistance. The lack of customer service options is extremely disappointing for a technology company. Timetec Drives are often initially not recognized after installation on Mac computers, so you get the dreaded flashing question mark folder. I contacted Timetec by email which is the only available method and they just referred me back to their website. I found that almost all of Timetec’s website solutions do not work with exception of one which is you must create a recognizable USB boot drive with an operating system files of High Sierra or later or you will never get past the dreaded flashing question mark folder. Timetec mentions the USB boot drive solution option, but they don’t provide any instructions or links on how to create a USB boot drive which can be very complicated and time consuming.I purchased two of these drives for 2015 Macbook Pro and at first thought I had a failed logic board because neither my old drive or the Timetec drive were recognizable by my computer. I thought that it was no longer a hard drive problem. so I unnecessarily purchased another computer. It took many hours to realize that you need to create a USB boot drive and then erase the contents of the Timetec drive in order to install an operation system. The Timetec drives will work, but the skill level required is really quite high to get the drives to function normally. Timetec could do a lot of things better to help make their drives more user friendly by installing an operating system on their hard drives, including a usb boot drive, or at least provide links and instructions on how to create a usb boot drive with other online tools such as Disk Creator and Disk Maker that make it much easier to create a boot drive. Without tools such as Disk Creator, the process is much more difficult. Timetec drives are just not user friendly or worth the hassle and hours of extra effort, so I would advise looking elsewhere for your hard drives.
