Knocked it out of the park IMO
What can I say, I was skeptical when I learned that Turtle Beach had acquired ROCCAT, because aside from headsets, I had no experience with their peripherals especially mice since that’s not what they’re known for. With that being said Turtle Beach has really done the burst justice with the Burst II, the shape (symmetrical), the weight 47g, solid shell with no holes, includes grip tape. I have no issues claw gripping this mouse, I’m already matching and exceeding my scores in Aim Lab. I like the placement of the dpi button very innovative in my opinion, scroll wheel is tactile and notched just like the original. The mouse skates are phenomenal right out of the box, granted I am currently using a glass pad they glide like butter. As I’ve stated I’m very impressed with Turtle Beach, I hope we as a mouse community can continue to benefit from this competition of pushing the envelope foward with gaming mice. If you are looking for a light weight symmetrical mouse you will not be disappointed with this mouse especially if you like the original Burst. I’m really hoping to see an 8k version eventually. With this debut mouse coming in at this price point, I feel as though TB is attempting to dance with the big boys right out the gate, Logitech, Razer, Pulsar etc. They’re off to a good start of I must say for their first mouse.

The closest you’ll get to a wireless KPU
I love the shape of the Roccat Kone Pure Ultra, so when my KPU started double clicking on me I started looking for alternatives with optical switches. The two alternatives I tried were the Roccat Kone Pro and this mouse, the Turtle Beach Pure Air. Turtle Beach acquired Roccat some years ago and is now rebranding their mice lineup under the same name. The mouse shape of the TB Pure Air, KPU, and Kone Pro are all very similar with the main difference being length. For comparison purposes, I found that the Kone Pro was just a tad too long for my tastes, while the Pure Air was very close to the same length as the KPU, if just a little longer.Battery life on Bluetooth is good. I’ve been using it every day for a week and the battery reports itself as 62%. Haven’t tried using the USB adapter yet, but Bluetooth performance is good enough for me.The software for configuring the mouse was OK. Updating the firmware for the mouse was kind of janky in that I would get a notification saying a firmware update was available, but you need to have the mouse connected via USB and the wireless dongle plugged in to actually update, and I couldn’t even get to the firmware update screen unless I closed and reopened the software a few times. Aside from that, configuring the mouse with the software is pretty straightforward. The best part about the software is that all settings get stored to the mouse, so once you are done configuring, you can close the software or even uninstall it and forget it exists. My only complaint is that the USB receiver cannot be stored in the mouse which makes it much easier to lose. I suspect this choice was made to save on weight. The Pure air is VERY light. Lighter than all the other mice I have even with the battery.Overall, I am quite satisfied with this mouse. I’m a little sad that they will probably never make another mouse with the exact same shape as the Kone Pure Ultra, but this is close enough for me.

Battery Life not even close to accurate
The mouse is really nice to use. The programming of the side buttons is really easy and you can have 5 different profiles. I wish the description was better. The battery does not even last one day of use… Not lone the 100 hours it promises. The other issue I have with it is the DPI setting has 5 levels but when you are playing a game and are looking for the right setting, you have to guess where it is at. There isn’t an LED to let you know which level you are on. For the money I think you can find a better mouse that does the same thing but since I have it here, it is good enough to keep around. I would not suggest this mouse to anyone that wants a long lasting wireless mouse though.

    Mixed feelings
The Burst Air has a lot of good qualities. The weight and build quality is overall great. The only problem I have is how thin the plastic is for the left and right clicks. It gives it a cheap feeling. The switches for the mouse feel good, but the thin low quality mouse clicks makes it feel a lot worse than it should. I normally don’t use grip tape but I felt like the grip tape on the mouse buttons actually helped. The balancing of the mouse is very nice, the coating kind of feels like a ping pong ball, not bad but not the grippiest either.Side buttons feel okay, size and positioning is not bad, no complaints. The biggest problem for me personally is the shape. Although I use a claw grip normally, I find the back flare of the mouse to be very odd. The back flare tapers in before the center of the mouse so it makes it a very odd shape. Didn’t work for me.I think on sale $80 is a great price for the mouse. If the shape is good for you, you will probably really like the mouse.

Unfortunately, I didn’t like the fact that the right side of the mouse body is lower. The hand rests on the right side of the mouse body, and now the support surface was gone.At first I thought it was a minor problem, but I never got used to this mouse. However, the matte surface of the mouse is slippery and my hand slipped off the mouse. The positive thing is that there was plenty of room for the thumb. And the side keys were nicely high.I liked everything else, I didn’t feel like the mouse was inaccurate without the cable. It worked properly in every mode.
