Another great phone from Umidigi that wonât break the bank.
I received my new Umidigi G1 Max a few days ago and Iâm already impressed. Itâs hard to believe that they can pack so much into a phone at this price. I decided to go with the Galaxy Blue version of the phone to try something other than black for a change. The blue is like the bluest part of the sky on a sunny day so itâs a really nice shade of blue and I must say that I really like it. The phone came with a clear silicon case that fits nice and snug with easy access to all the side buttons. I like the way the phone feels in my hand as it allows for a good grip (some phones are too narrow and not comfortable to hold). The first thing I noticed up powering on was the bright and colorful screen as I tend to like bright colors that pop. I let Google load the apps from my account backup and this went quick and seamlessly. Scrolling through the apps was snappy and opening apps was quick with no lag. There is a built in FM radio but itâs not headset free, so you have to plug in your earphones for it function (there is a 3mm jack). I have been using the phone all day and I still have plenty of battery life left so I really like not having to worry about a dead battery while out and about. The phone does not have NFC or wireless charging in which I am not surprised about in this price range, but I do hope to see wireless charging in future models from Umidigi as most new vehicles now come with a built-in wireless charging pad. I briefly tried the camera out and yielded vibrant results using HDR. I noticed that the camera has a Night Pro mode, but I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. Iâm using the phone on T-Mobile (4G) and had no issues upon inserting the sim card. Call quality was nice and crisp without issue. Now, with this being said I must say that there are other phones from Umidigi that will give you more of a punch with tons of features but a phone at this price point was beyond my expectations. Iâm a longtime Umidigi customer and this is my fourth phone them as I started out several years ago with the S3 Pro but with the affordable prices I can upgrade to a new phone more often without breaking the bank.

Set your expectations appropriately
First off, this is a cheap unlocked Chinese Android. That comes with pros and cons. First pro: what you get for what you pay is going to be excellent. Everything works well enough on the device, and functions appropriately. Second, there is no bloatware, and a very âpureâ stock Android experience. That is a massive pro by the way. The specs for this are pretty decent, the CPU gets out of its own way, the GPU handles some gaming and maintains good image quality on a âgood enoughâ screen that is bright and clear for the 720p resolution. The haptic feedback (vibration) isnât terrible, but isnât great either. Under basic usage at about 70% brightness, battery went from 100 to 86 percent in about 45 minutes. Again, not bad, not great.The downsides to this are the very obvious components that are absolute bargain basement which are the camera and the speaker. All the software tricks in the world cannot compensate for the fact that this takes straight up terrible pics through extremely low quality camera hardware. The speaker is tinny, doesnât go loud at all, and sounds like an FM radio from the 90âs. And of course, there is only one speaker, competing in a world of stereo phones.Side note, I donât think this has any water resistance rating, which would have been nice.So if you want a basic, cheap phone that is VERY versatile and usable, this is a great choice. I have had excellent luck with this brand before and I expect this one to be more of the same.TL:DR – compared to an iPhone, youâre going to be disappointed. Compared to any other Android youâd pick up in this price point from a carrier, this will blow those out of the water and provide a fantastic day to day experience.

worst phone ive gotten from them yet
I have bought alot of umidigi phones over the years, they used to be a great value. theyve always have issues though. my firstand second one had a terrible microphonethe second had a battery that definatly didnt last the day like it was supposed to and the one after that had a fabulous battery, but the camera went blurry and the calls came in whenever they felt like or didnt and it rebooted constantly. this one is worse then all that, the default android on it is so ugly it took hours to fix the nasty color scheme issues, it has to always be at full brightness or i cant see anything, i used an app to test the battery which hardly lasts the day despite being adverised as having alot of watt hours of power. several parts of the battery tested as working improperly. the default max soudn on the phone was barely a whisper i had to get an ap to amplify it. no one can hear me on calls and i couldnt hear any one it was twice as low with calls and calls dont connect and have the worst connection. iswitched to true caller and it was lighly better but still unintelegable so now i have to use a second internet based line via text now just to make calls. within a week the phone corrupted the sd card i put in it. id return it or submit it for the warrenty but the warrent department is never of any use and i need a phone and calling isnt my primary use of my phone anyways and i just hate setting up new phones and dont want to do that again this year. so i am stuck with this mess, dont get this. this brand has been going downhill for years and this is the last one i will ever get. the camera on this one works though. no wide angle cam though. the finger print sensor feature works nicely. But as a phone this phone is just not a phone. the storage and memory upgrade is nice though. its a good android device. the included screen protector scratches super easily too.
