I bought this phone when my refurbished Moto One 5G Ace kicked the bucket, having felt I’d gotten my money’s worth from Umidigi phones in the past.And this phone, for the price, (especially if you can get it on sale) is fine.The issue lies with the carriers. Telus, in my case. Who, as of February 2024, are forcing incorrect APN settings on your phone if it’s not on their list of approved devices. This makes it so that you can’t send and receive MMS messages (certain enhanced chat protocols, group messages, picture and video messages). Even if you force the correct settings using unorthodox methods the network seems to force it to use the “default” settings anyway.So I feel bad having to say “I can’t recommend this product, even if it’s deeply discounted”. Because the phone is a perfectly fine cost alternative option for people who don’t need all the bells and whistles and just want a phone that they can browse the web on. But I have to say it. Entirely due to anti-consumer practices by Canadian cellular providers. Not just anti-consumer but anti-environmental as well because they just turned all of these perfectly good phones into e-waste for a lot of people.The mobile data still works, and you can still use it to browse the internet, but many services use MMS messaging as part of the services which means if you’re paying for a third party shopping service you may not be able to communicate with your shopper, etc.If your friends and family communicate entirely via a third party app like facebook messenger then you’ll be fine. But if you ever intend to use your carriers picture/video messaging this potentially useless to you unless you’ve found a carrier that doesn’t subscribe to such anti-consumer practices.

The phone I got has a faulty digitalizer (top bar randomly comes down, swipes going all over the place,etc). Unfortunately I needed a phone asap so I couldn’t even refund it. Also the wifi is very sensitive – if you are using a public or work wifi expect the wifi to hop in and out. Very frustrating.

**update**I decided to look into tinkering with it and maybe seeing about loading a different OS on it but this is the first android phone that won’t enable developer mode. Something is a bit fishy as developer mode is a standard feature for stock android.**I bought this phone as a backup phone as I daily a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Over all the phone works great for the price range. It came with stock Android 11 with zero bloatware. The processor is nice and snappy and the display looks great for being a lower resolution. It has a USB C port which should be standard now a days even on cheaper phones like this. The camera quality is the greatest but that’s to be expected on a phone that costs around $200. After using it for a few days to test it out, one thing I did really miss was the fast charging that my S20 Ultra has. Overall I say this is not a bad phone for the price. I’m interested to see what they’re going higher end phones are like.

Doesn’t work with my Kudo account in Canada. Mobile data won’t work. Kudo tech support says it is a hardware issue with the phone and can’t be fixed.

I bought the phone july 1st/23. Bottom right corner has a white haze in the screen. What did I expect. It is worth it’s price.
