TOTALLY SHOCKED!
After receiving this audio hat for my raspberry pi 4b I had some doubts that it would solve my audio problem when trying to use wsjt-x. I decided to give it a try and I was blown away by how well it worked with wsjt-x on my raspberry pi 4b! I especially like its smaller size, which allows for easier airflow and cooling of my r-pi!

Works but finnicky
Make sure to look at the waveshare website to get their product installation guide. But note that depending on kernel version there are different drivers to install which is not listed in the guide

Works perfectly
I’m using this device to provide speech capabiltiy to my Jetson Nano B01 based robot. It works perfectly and I am surprised how amazing the sound quality is. I am 3d printing the outer shell and these components should fit inside nicely.

Too Clunky. The microphone does not work.
The USB Audio Adapter is way too big. And the microphone functionality does not work at all. Sad panda.

Lower audio output than ear bud style headphones
The audio output on these speakers is so low I can’t hear it unless I put the speakers up to my ears…

Perfect HAT! Speaker are pretty big.
Works really well as an RPi HAT, but the speakers ended up being a little too big for my use case.
They’re roughly 100mm x 44.5mm x 21mm (L x W x D) which is pretty big compared to the average Pi!
Thankfully I was able to leverage the screw terminals to connect another salvaged speaker from different device.

Simple and good alternative to USB sound for pi zero
I originally got this as kept having issues with pi zero usb data port failing. So far this works great, just have to be mindful of the GPIO pins it is using – and they have their schematics well documented.

Doesn’t work, outdated drivers
When plugged correctly into my Raspberry Pi 3 B, the PI fails to turn on. When I contacted customer support (which was decent, 1-3 days response time) through email, they finally said that the drivers only work on an older version of Raspberry Pi OS. If you OK with losing all your data and struggling through the OS installation process again, feel free to get this product. Otherwise, don’t buy it.
