    Works great with Steam Deck.
Bought this to use with a Mac and Steam Deck. Works great with both. The main point is that it’s possible to charge the deck through the monitor (I plug standard Deck charger into the monitor, and then connect the deck and the monitor via included usb type c power+data cable, and the deck is being charged while playing). For Mac works, too, just plug and play. The only problem I have is that you have to first put the Deck into sleep mode, then plug in the monitor and wake the device… but it’s the Deck software problem, not the monitor’s :)The device is lightweight for me, very portable. Included case seems to be rather protective, but I think it’s better not to drop it anyway.Built-in speakers are neither good, nor terrible, nice for emergencies, but I prefer headphones. The picture is nice, but it’s what you can expect from FullHD on 17 inches – yes, you can see the pixels, but come on, move your head a bit further ;)Colours seem fine, too. Also promised 144GHz and low latency are true. The price seems to be a bit high(bought it for $250), but hopefully it’s the price of reliability and support.Hopefully the device will live long and prosper, if it doesn’t – I’ll update the review.

Great display when your office is wherever you are at
I work remotely, all over the US, and there is not a lot to say about this monitor– it does what it is supposed to do, well. I was initially worried, because when I received my first one, I tried to open the stand, and it popped right off. Customer service was easy to work with and I got a replacement in short order. No issue two plus years later with the replacement and now have a second one– again, no issues.I often rent equipment for meetings where everyone needs external monitors that do not block the sightlines between the attendees. My vendor saw mine portable ViewSonic and bought a bunch for their inventory– again, all good. My only… warning (not a complaint) is that they are, as you would expect adverse to being knocked off desks. They are sturdy in that they continue to function, but the bottom of the facia /frame pops loose and does not pop back in very securely. I dot of hot glue does the trick, but the better fix is probably to knock them off desks in the first place, as they are in no way rated for being dropped from any height.

    Good portable monitor
Why I bought a portable monitor (ViewSonic VX1755)? I have a 13″ laptop and needed to extend display. Primarily used for windows OS.What’s good?- Used USB-C (Laptop) to USB-C (ViewSonic) connection. Connection via USB-C works well for my setup. Tried HDMI but my laptop has no HDMI port and requires a USB-C mobile dock.- Extending display is configured via Windows display settings.- Colors looks great. Text appears sharp.- Sound comes from ViewSonic.- Larger screen (17″) compared to my laptop (13″)- Weight is just right.Things to know and maybe an issue?- I initially powered the ViewSonic VX1755 via “Type C” port (USB-C) AND used USB-C (laptop) to USB-C (ViewSonic) to extend display. This connection method powered my laptop. However, the ViewSonic “intermittently” re-starts. Not sure why but it may be due to the power required to power both laptop and this ViewSonic model. This can be a problem if user is not aware about this issue. SOLUTION: To get around this problem, power comes primarily from Laptop. Have not experienced any ViewSonic restart since.Verdict: After I found the solution to the ViewSonic display restart, it’s been great since. Intermittent power restart may not be an issue with other devices if device is powered via ViewSonic. 4-stars due to power issue.UPDATE: Bought a 100W USB-C power delivery (PD) unit to power both Laptop (needs 45w) and ViewSonic monitor (needs 10w). Instead of using laptop’s power, this USB-C PD unit is plugged to ViewSonic’s USB-C port to power both my laptop and ViewSonic monitor. Note: ViewSonic’s included USB-C PD unit is maxed at 60w which is NOT enough to power both my laptop and ViewSonic monitor causing the ViewSonic to restart intermittently. So far so good. ViewSonic monitor seems stable and have not experienced intermittent re-start. Will update if I see same or other issues.

  5. Not just for gaming!

Not just for gaming! Very easy on the eyes at 1080p
What it has- Similar refresh rate to my MacBook Pro with ProMotion display- Splendid contrast and color- Minimal to no hotspots- *nice* Build quality- magnetic protective cover- Many settings and input methods (+ cables included) Although this isn’t any anywhere close to a portable monitor that is double the price if you are looking for industry standard gamut specifications like LG Gram or similar, but from the start , this proves better than most premium laptop displays and will still serve well as a companion display in graphic design environments. What it does not have:- Vertical stand (however *certain* J-hook style iPad stands may work)-Per pixel backlighting – this won’t look identical to Apple Studio or MacBook display due to that, but it’s pretty close in contrast with some manual adjustments.- It’s 1080p – it’s not Retina, but it looks close to something like a Dell XPS or a premium office monitor. The colors are rich and gradients look quite well without any visible banding. The 144 Hz was the selling point for me personally, since I am more bothered by low(60hz) refresh rate than pixel density, and at this price point you will need to tradeoff either of the two , as well as between price and build quality. In conclusion, this monitor is well balanced with everything , especially at the price point of $200 to $250.

Definitely a case of you get what you pay for versus some of the cheaper no-name options for portable monitors. With the Xbox Series S it actually takes a 1440p image and then outputs it at 1080p so it is actually a crisper looking image. The build quality of the VX1755 is excellent and the IPS screen has no backlight bleed at all. I will say the colour is good, but somewhat muted despite the numerous menu options for colour, gamma, full RGB output etc. The speakers aren’t a replacement for other better audio options you may have. The volume control is also buried in the menu despite no less than five buttons on the side for the OSD. The size of the screen at 17.2” is great and the speed of the panel at 144hz with AMD Freesync Pro is a solid offering versus other portables.

Contento

I am in the process of replacing my laptop with some voodoo mini-pc + portable monitor, and this monitor was 1 of 2 i considered for having 144hz.Everything works via 1 usb-c cable as expected.

La imagen es excelente, tengo una laptop Asus con procesador AMD y puedo aprovechar las funciones de video del mismo, la velocidad de respuesta y movimiento es muy buena. El único detalle es el audio porque esperaba que fuera más claro y le falta potencia.

So I bought 2 other monitors before settling on this one. The others were cheaper and offered similar features but each one had issues. This is perfect since the cover is magnetic and comes off so it’s easy to put away. I use this primarily for conventions to have a monitor paired with a fanless MeLe computer so it’s just setup and can walk away. The screen is great, high quality the back feels aluminum and works perfect out of the box with little setup. It’s a bit expensive but you get what you pay for
