AMAZING for blender, maya, 3D : XPPen deco mini 7W – I wish I’d switched from Wacom earlier
Edit May 2023: Tablet is still going strong and I am still loving it!Original review:I’ve been using a wired Wacom intuos for years now for my 3d work (Maya, blender, substance painter, etc) and I desperately wanted to buy a Bluetooth model because of the way my workstation is setup. But I’ve always disliked the buttons (how they’re concave instead of convex and also how they’re located on the top of the tablet and not the side) on the wacom just a bit- not enough to buy a different tablet, but enough to irritate me, so I didn’t want another intuos.I looked at different Wacoms, but they were all ridiculously expensive and had features I didn’t want- I don’t want a screen on the tablet, how useless- just get a surface pro at that point ffs. And I didn’t need a huge surface area. All I wanted is a nicely made, responsive, bluetooth capable tablet with buttons on the left side. I finally decided I’d need to look beyond Wacom.I’d heard of XP PEN and Huion before but never considered anything besides Wacom- that was stupid and elitist. After taking a chance on this little $44 tablet I was blown away. The material on the XP PEN deco mini 7w feels and looks more expensive than my Wacom Intuos and the stylus is so much more comfortable to hold! In other reviews people said the keys seem loud and plasticy, so I included a video of the sound- they’re exactly the same, quieter ever, than the intuos IMO. They aren’t plasticy at all- the whole tablet has a very nice velvety finish. My only complaint with the design are the four white corners that box in the working space. They’re unnecessary and bring the design down- but that’s a very minor thing.Even though XP’s software looks clunky and has poor resolution, it’s SO MUCH BETTER than Wacom’s. It allows you to set up the shortcuts in huge chains of keys (control-alt-delete) instead of just one single key (control) which is a game changer for anyone who uses 3d software.I’m very impressed and will definitely buy from XP again if I need another tablet.

Changed my mind – back to five stars
I had a Wacom tablet that was no longer supported so I decided to try something different. This is the first wireless table I’ve used. Seems to work great on Windows 10 – found the wireless immediately. I’ve tried it with Photoshop, Affinity Photo and Howler. Sketching is smooth with all three.Update – I switched over to Linux have mostly been using this with Krita. It works great – when it works. Props to XP-Pen for providing Linux drivers. Unfortunately there’s something goofed up about this tablet and Linux (Mint). The battery now seems to only last 10-20 minutes so in order to use it reliably it has to be plugged into a USB port. That would be ok, but then it doesn’t work properly unless the wifi dongle is plugged into another USB port. Anytime I reboot my laptop I have to unplug the table from the USB connector or it won’t be recognized, then plug it back in again. Just too much busy work and I’m tired of having half my USB ports always occupied by this tablet. I could buy the wired version, but that’s USB-C so I’d need an adapter, and it isn’t clear that the wired version even works with Linux. So I switched back to a wired version of that other brand of tablet, which also works fine with the native drivers.Updated update – I used a Wacom table for awhile but the drivers aren’t stable. Ended up losing work when it would crash out of an app with no warning. Went back to the XP-Pen and now appreciate it more even with having to use two ports.

Great Tablet for Alternative Mouse Use, But Requires Some Adaptation
I recently purchased the XPPen Deco mini7W Graphic Tablet to use as an alternative mouse for my work computer due to hand pain caused by the conventional-style mouse. While it hasn’t completely replaced my traditional mouse, it has proven to be a helpful tool in managing my discomfort. Here are my thoughts on this wireless drawing tablet:Pros:Ergonomic Design: The XPPen Deco mini7W has a sleek and compact design that fits comfortably in my hand. Its lightweight construction allows for easy maneuverability, reducing strain on my wrist and fingers.Pressure Sensitivity: The tablet’s pressure sensitivity is excellent, making it great for artistic endeavors or precision tasks that require different levels of control.Customizable Buttons: The tablet features programmable buttons that can be assigned to various shortcuts, providing quick access to frequently used functions. This feature enhances efficiency and reduces the need to reach for the keyboard.Wireless Connectivity: The wireless functionality of this tablet is a convenient feature, eliminating the hassle of cords and allowing for greater freedom of movement.Cons:Learning Curve: Transitioning from a conventional mouse to a drawing tablet requires some adjustment. It took me a while to get accustomed to the tablet’s touch-sensitive surface and hand-eye coordination. However, with patience and practice, I was able to improve my control over time.Limited Mouse Functionality: While the XPPen Deco mini7W serves as a decent alternative mouse, it lacks the full range of features that a traditional mouse offers. This limitation may require the use of a conventional mouse alongside the tablet for certain tasks.Battery Life: The battery life could be better. Although it lasts for a reasonable amount of time, I find myself needing to recharge it more frequently than expected.Overall, the XPPen Deco mini7W Graphic Tablet is a solid option for those seeking an alternative mouse due to hand pain. While there is a learning curve and some limitations in terms of mouse functionality, the tablet’s ergonomic design, pressure sensitivity, and wireless connectivity make it a valuable addition to my workstation. I recommend using it in conjunction with a traditional mouse to handle tasks that are better suited for a conventional input device. With some adaptation, this tablet has become an essential tool for alleviating my hand pain during prolonged computer use.
